Bitcoin DADA Celebrates Historic Milestone with Graduation of First African Female Developers
NAIROBI, Kenya—December 6, 2024
Bitcoin DADA, a groundbreaking institution headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, made history on November 23, 2024, by graduating its first-ever mass cohort of African female developers. The organisation, which is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive space for African women to learn about Bitcoin and succeed within a supportive community, reached a new pinnacle in its mission to empower women through education and technology.
The milestone event was the culmination of a vision brought to life by the institution’s brilliant CEO, Lorraine Marcel. What started as a dream has become a transformative reality, exceeding expectations and inspiring countless women across the continent.
The celebration honoured the inaugural cohort of Dada Devs, a group of women who successfully completed Bitcoin DADA’s intensive 12-week Bitcoin and Lightning development course. Alongside the graduation ceremony, the organisation also hosted a three-day bootcamp that focused on Bitcoin and Lightning development, offering all African female developers a chance to explore, innovate, and showcase their skills.
The immersive bootcamp provided a platform for women to collaborate, develop projects, and share ideas in the rapidly evolving Bitcoin space. By the end of this transformative journey, 35 African women—comprising Dada Dev graduates and bootcamp participants—stood proudly as trailblazers in the world of Bitcoin innovation.
The graduates presented projects that demonstrated their creativity, technical expertise, and entrepreneurial spirit, underscoring the program’s success in equipping women with the tools to navigate and thrive in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
“This moment represents more than just a graduation; it is a testament to the power of education, collaboration, and belief in the potential of African women,” said Lorraine Marcel. “We are thrilled to see these women step into the Bitcoin world with confidence, and we look forward to witnessing the incredible impact they will make.”
The event was not only a celebration of achievement but also a call to action for broader inclusion in technology. By empowering women to excel in Bitcoin and blockchain development, Bitcoin DADA is redefining the narrative and paving the way for a more inclusive digital future.
As the graduates embark on their journey, Bitcoin DADA reaffirms its commitment to empowering African women through education, innovation, and community support. This historic milestone is just the beginning of a larger movement to elevate women’s voices and talents in the technology sector.
