BLOCKATHON 2024: BlockchainUNN Conference 3.0 Inspires Over 5,000 Participants in Nsukka

Nsukka, Nigeria – The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), recently concluded its third annual BlockchainUNN Conference, “BLOCKATHON 2024,” on November 2nd after an intensive six-day journey of blockchain learning, networking, and competition. This year’s conference attracted over 5,000 participants both in person and online, including a dedicated group of 200-300 hackers who showcased their skills in a competitive hackathon.

BLOCKATHON 2024 aimed to equip the next generation of blockchain developers with a well-rounded skillset through a range of workshops, networking sessions, panel discussions, and interactive learning opportunities. Attendees enjoyed a lineup of events that included hands-on workshops, a career fair, and inspiring talks from industry experts.

Scholarships and Prizes

BlockchainUNN recognized outstanding participants with a grand prize pool of ₦3.2 million ($2,000), awarded to the top three teams. The 1st place team received ₦1.6 million ($1,000), while the 2nd and 3rd place teams received ₦1.04 million ($650) and ₦560,000 ($350) respectively. Additionally, six promising individuals were awarded special scholarships of ₦50,000 each, sponsored by the Enugu State SME Agency, in recognition of their potential and dedication to the blockchain ecosystem.
